Websites for Alabama businesses
Alabama doesn't have one big metro that pulls every search toward it. Birmingham is the largest market, Huntsville is the fastest growing, Mobile anchors the Gulf Coast and Montgomery holds the capital. Between them sit college towns like Tuscaloosa and Auburn and a long list of small cities where most customers still find a contractor through a neighbor, a church friend or a quick search on the phone.
That phone search is where your website does its work. People type the trade and the town, like "roofer Madison AL" or "plumber Daphne", and Google shows the businesses that make it clear they work there. A site that names the cities you serve, shows real jobs and makes it easy to call will beat a prettier site that just says "serving Alabama".
Where Alabama searches for web design
We pulled Google Ads volumes for "web design" plus Alabama's main cities.
Huntsville leads by a wide margin at 880 searches a month, and DataForSEO also shows "huntsville alabama web design" at 880. Mobile follows at 390 and Birmingham at 210. Montgomery shows 90 and Auburn 40, while Tuscaloosa and Dothan sit near 10. Huntsville's number fits what's happening there: Redstone Arsenal, NASA's Marshall center and a long line of defense and engineering firms keep bringing new families and new businesses to the Tennessee Valley.

That's the Google map for roofing in Huntsville. Three roofers get the top spots before any regular result, and the ones with a matching website, many reviews and photos of local roofs tend to hold those spots.
| What people type into Google | US searches per month |
|---|---|
| web design alabama | 140 |
Statewide phrases are modest. "Web design alabama", "alabama web design" and "web design in alabama" each show about 140 searches a month, and "web design company alabama" about 10. Most people who hire locally search by city.

Alabama's regions
North Alabama. Huntsville, Madison, Decatur, Athens and the Shoals. New subdivisions, engineers relocating from other states and a lot of new-home work. These customers compare several sites before they call, so clear prices, reviews and credentials help.
Birmingham and Central Alabama. Hoover, Vestavia Hills, Trussville and Pelham around the largest city, with older homes closer in and newer ones in the suburbs. Medical offices, law firms and home services all compete here.
Montgomery and the River Region. Prattville, Wetumpka and Millbrook, plus Maxwell Air Force Base. Military families move often and search without local referrals.
Mobile and the Gulf Coast. Mobile, Daphne, Fairhope, Foley, Gulf Shores and Orange Beach. Beach rentals, marine services, fishing charters and storm work. Many customers are second-home owners searching from out of state.
The Wiregrass and small towns. Dothan, Enterprise, Ozark and Fort Novosel. Fewer competitors online, so a well built site can rank quickly.

Licenses on an Alabama site
Alabama has a Home Builders Licensure Board for residential construction and a separate State Licensing Board for General Contractors for larger commercial jobs. Electricians, plumbers, HVAC contractors and roofers deal with their own boards or local rules. Rules change, so we don't guess: we show the license numbers you hold, with the board that issued them, in the footer and on the about page.
Weather drives search in Alabama
Spring brings severe storms and tornado warnings across the state, and the coast faces hurricane season from June to November. Searches for roof repair, tree removal, generators and water damage jump after every big storm. A storm page that explains your process, how you document damage for insurance and how fast you can come out should be live before the season starts, not after the first storm hits.
Summer heat and humidity keep AC companies, pest control and pool services busy for much of the year, while mild winters mean outdoor work like landscaping, fencing and concrete can run almost year round.

Real data from one of our sites
We built this client site and track it in Search Console. It's not in Alabama and we keep the name private, but it shows the slow start and steady growth most small business sites see.
Mistakes on Alabama small business sites
- "Serving North Alabama." Customers search Madison, Decatur and Athens by name.
- No license number. Careful homeowners check the board before they call.
- A storm page that goes up after the storm. Have it ready in early spring.
- Stock photos of beaches for an inland business. Show your own trucks and jobs.
How we work
- Check your price in the website price calculator for your trade and city.
- Tell us your service area, city by city.
- We write every page and add your licenses and real job photos.
- You review the draft and ask for changes.
- We launch and update your Google Business Profile to match.
Price
$299 base, $15 for each extra page, never more than $630. A Huntsville roofer with four services, a storm page and pages for Madison, Decatur and Athens pays $299 plus 8 × $15, or $419. See how much a website costs for the full breakdown.
