Websites for Kansas businesses
Kansas has two big markets and a lot of open country. The Kansas side of the Kansas City metro, mostly Johnson and Wyandotte counties, holds Overland Park, Olathe, Lenexa, Shawnee, Leawood and Kansas City, Kansas. Wichita is the largest city and the center of south-central Kansas, with aviation manufacturing at its core. Topeka is the capital, Lawrence has KU and Manhattan has K-State and Fort Riley nearby. West of Salina, towns like Hays, Garden City, Dodge City and Liberal serve huge rural areas.
Customers here search by their city or suburb, and owners on the Kansas side of KC often work in Missouri too. A good Kansas site makes all of that clear.
Where Kansas searches for web design
Wichita leads clearly at 260 searches a month. Overland Park shows 40 and Lawrence 20. Topeka, Olathe, Manhattan and Lenexa each show around 10. Kansas City phrases are much bigger, with DataForSEO showing "web design in kansas city" and "web design kansas city mo" at 480, but most of that demand points to the Missouri side.

That's the Google map for roofing in Wichita. Hail is a fact of life in south-central Kansas, and roofers fight hard for these spots.
| What people type into Google | US searches per month |
|---|---|
| web design in kansas | 20 |
| kansas web design | 10 |
Statewide searches are small. "Web design in kansas" and "website design in kansas" show about 20 a month, and "web design kansas" and "kansas web design" about 10. This is a state where almost all demand is local.

Kansas markets
Johnson County and KCK. Overland Park, Olathe, Lenexa, Shawnee, Leawood, Prairie Village, Merriam and Kansas City, Kansas. Strong suburbs, newer homes in the south and west, older ones near the state line. Many businesses work in Missouri too, so pages for Lee's Summit, Independence or Kansas City, Missouri make sense if that's where you go.
Wichita and South-Central Kansas. Wichita, Derby, Andover, Haysville, Maize and Newton. Aircraft makers, McConnell Air Force Base and a large medical community. Home services and contractors do well here, and hail keeps roofers busy.
Topeka, Lawrence and Manhattan. State government, two big universities and Fort Riley. Rental housing, property management, movers and cleaning companies have steady demand.
Western Kansas. Salina, Hays, Garden City, Dodge City, Great Bend and Liberal. Agriculture, meatpacking and oil. Businesses here cover wide areas and should list the counties they serve.

Licensing in Kansas
Kansas leaves most contractor licensing to cities and counties. Wichita, Johnson County cities, Topeka and others each have their own rules for builders, electricians, plumbers and HVAC contractors. Roofers register with the state. We list each license or registration you hold with the city, county or office that issued it.
Weather and seasons
Kansas sits in the middle of tornado alley, and spring and early summer bring hail, wind and tornadoes. After a storm, searches for roof repair, siding, gutters and tree removal spike. Summers are hot, so AC repair peaks from June through August. Winters bring furnace calls, ice storms and the occasional blizzard out west.
A storm page with your process, insurance help and photos of local jobs should be live by March.
Trades that do well online
Roofing and exteriors. Hail damage drives a huge share of local searches.
HVAC. Hot summers and cold winters mean year-round calls.
Plumbing. Older homes in Wichita, Topeka and KCK have aging lines.
Concrete and foundations. Clay soils shift and crack slabs and basements.
Landscaping and lawn care. Strong demand in Johnson County and around Wichita.
Pages we plan for Kansas businesses
| Page | When it's worth it |
|---|---|
| Home | Your base city and main service |
| Service pages | One per service |
| Suburb or town pages | Each place you work with real searches |
| Missouri town pages | If you work across the state line |
| Storm page | Roofing, siding and restoration |
| About | Licenses, insurance and team |
Selling across the state line
The Kansas City metro doesn't care much about the state line. A plumber in Overland Park may spend half the week in Lee's Summit, and a roofer in Independence may do most of his work in Olathe. Customers search for their own city, so a contractor who serves both sides should have pages for the cities on each side and show the right local license on each. Our page on web design missouri covers the other half of the metro.
Aviation and manufacturing in Wichita
Wichita calls itself the Air Capital of the World, with Spirit AeroSystems, Textron Aviation and many smaller suppliers. Machine shops, composite fabricators, tooling companies and staffing firms sell to these manufacturers. Buyers look for certifications like AS9100, equipment lists, capabilities and capacity. A capability page for each service, plus photos of your shop, works better than a long history page.
College towns and Fort Riley
Lawrence and Manhattan each have a large university and thousands of rental homes and apartments, and Junction City sits next to Fort Riley. Landlords and property managers need cleaners, painters, handymen and HVAC companies between leases, and military families need movers and contractors on short notice.
Topeka and Northeast Kansas
Topeka has state government, a large hospital system and older neighborhoods with homes that need steady upkeep. Lawrence, Leavenworth and Emporia are nearby markets.
Starting small in Kansas
Most Kansas businesses do well starting with a home page, a few service pages and pages for their top three or four towns, then adding more as the work grows.
