Websites for North Carolina businesses
North Carolina has close to eleven million people and one of the fastest-growing populations in the country. Growth is spread across several metros rather than one: Charlotte, the Triangle around Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill, the Triad around Greensboro, Winston-Salem and High Point, Asheville in the mountains and Wilmington on the coast. Each has its own customers, and people search by their city.
For Charlotte itself, see our guide to web design in Charlotte, NC. This page is for businesses elsewhere in the state, or for those planning a site that covers more than one region.
Where North Carolina searches for web design
Charlotte leads at 880 searches a month. Raleigh follows at 480, then Asheville at 390 and Greensboro at 320. Winston-Salem shows 260, and Durham, Cary and Wilmington 170 each. Asheville stands out for its size, which fits the many small, independent businesses in the mountains.

That's the Google map for roofing in Raleigh. Raleigh is the state capital and the center of the Triangle, and the pins spread across Wake County.
| What people type into Google | US searches per month |
|---|---|
| web design in north carolina | 140 |
Statewide phrases show about 140 searches a month each. Google groups "web design in north carolina", "web design nc" and "nc website design" together. "Web design companies in north carolina" adds about 40.

Regions and how they search
The Triangle. Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, Cary, Apex and Wake Forest. Research Triangle Park brings many new residents who have no local recommendations yet and rely on search and reviews.
The Triad. Greensboro, Winston-Salem and High Point, with a mix of older neighborhoods and furniture, manufacturing and logistics businesses.
Western North Carolina. Asheville, Hendersonville and Boone. Hurricane Helene in 2024 caused severe damage across the region, and rebuilding, roofing, tree work and restoration remain common searches.
The coast. Wilmington, the Outer Banks and Crystal Coast towns depend on summer visitors and second-home owners, and hurricane season shapes demand every year.
Fayetteville and the Sandhills. A large military community around Fort Bragg brings frequent moves and steady demand for movers, cleaners and home services.

Trades that do well online in North Carolina
Some trades get far more value from a good site here than others. In the Triangle, where thousands of people arrive each year, home services like HVAC, plumbing, electrical, pest control and house cleaning get many searches from people who have never hired locally before. In the Triad, older housing stock keeps remodelers, roofers and foundation repair companies busy. Around Asheville, rebuilding after Helene made tree services, roofers, general contractors and restoration companies some of the most searched local businesses. On the coast, property managers, cleaners, pool services and boat repair shops earn most of their year between May and September.
Humidity matters across the state. Crawl space encapsulation, mold remediation, dehumidifiers and termite treatment are common searches in the Piedmont and on the coast, and they are worth their own pages if you offer them.
Licenses customers check
North Carolina requires a general contractor license from the state licensing board for projects of $40,000 or more. Plumbing, heating and fire sprinkler contractors are licensed by their own state board, and electricians by the State Board of Examiners of Electrical Contractors. We show the license numbers you hold in the footer and on the about page.
The first screen on a North Carolina site
A visitor from Apex or Hickory decides in seconds. Put "Roof repair in Cary" style wording at the top, so they know you work there. Add a phone button they can tap, your star rating with one short local review and, for licensed trades, the number they would otherwise have to ask for. Below that, link the towns you cover.
Real data from one of our sites
Those are clicks and impressions from a client site we built and still track. The business isn't in North Carolina, and we keep its name private, but the curve is typical: slow for a few months, then steady growth once Google trusts the pages.
Mistakes we see on North Carolina sites
- "Serving the Triangle." Raleigh, Durham, Cary and Apex are searched separately.
- Storm pages written after the storm. Have them live before June.
- No license number. Customers and insurers ask for it.
- One page for the mountains and the coast. They have different customers and seasons.
How we work
Here's the usual order of things for a North Carolina project:
- Price it first in the website price calculator, picking your trade and the city where most of your jobs are.
- Send a short list of the towns you cover, from Wake Forest to Holly Springs or wherever you drive.
- We draft every page, using your photos, reviews and the license numbers you hold.
- You read it and ask for changes before anything goes live.
- The site launches and your Google profile gets linked and checked.
Price
$299 base, $15 for each extra page, never more than $630. A Raleigh HVAC company with five services and pages for Raleigh, Cary, Apex and Wake Forest pays $299 plus 8 × $15, or $419. See HVAC website design, websites for roofers or websites for dentists, and how much a website costs for agency pricing.
