Websites for Maine businesses
Maine is a state of small towns, long winters and a busy summer. Southern Maine, from Kittery and York up through Portland, South Portland and Scarborough, holds the biggest share of people and business. The Midcoast, with Brunswick, Bath, Camden, Rockland and Boothbay, mixes year-round residents with summer homes. Bangor serves a huge area to the north and east, and Bar Harbor fills up with visitors to Acadia. The western mountains have ski towns like Bethel and Rangeley.
People search for their own town, and summer visitors search from far away. A Maine site should handle both.
Where Maine searches for web design
Portland shows 50 searches a month, and Bangor and Kennebunk about 10. Most other towns don't register.

That's the map for electricians in Portland. Heat pump installs have made electrical work a busy local search across the state.
| What people type into Google | US searches per month |
|---|---|
| web design maine | 260 |
Statewide searches are strong for a small state. "Web design maine", "maine web design" and "web design in maine" each show about 260 a month in Ads, and DataForSEO puts "web design maine" and "maine web design" at 480. "Southern maine web design" adds about 70.

Year-round and seasonal customers
Year-round residents. Heating, plumbing, snow plowing, roofing, auto repair, dentists and builders. They want local proof and a phone number.
Summer people and visitors. Inns, restaurants, boat tours, lobster shacks, rentals, caretaking and property management. They plan ahead and want photos, dates and booking.
Many businesses serve both. A caretaker in Camden might open homes in May, maintain them all summer and close them in October.

Licenses
Maine has no statewide general contractor license, but electricians, plumbers and oil and solid fuel technicians hold state licenses. We show the numbers you hold.

Southern Maine is growing fast
Portland, South Portland, Westbrook, Scarborough, Falmouth, Cape Elizabeth, Gorham, Windham and Saco have grown quickly, with many people moving from Boston, New York and beyond. Home prices have risen, and new residents are renovating older capes, farmhouses and triple-deckers. They search for contractors, cleaners and services without local referrals, and they compare sites before they call.
York County, from Kittery and York up to Kennebunk, Wells and Biddeford, has its own coastal market with summer homes and year-round residents.
Old houses and long winters
Much of Maine's housing is old, and much of it is heated with oil. Heat pump installs have boomed in recent years, along with insulation, weatherization and window upgrades. Customers ask about state rebate programs, and we describe the ones you work with without promising amounts. Older homes also bring fieldstone foundations, wet basements, old chimneys and wiring that needs updating.
Winter brings snow plowing, roof raking, ice dams and frozen pipes. Spring brings mud season, frost heaves and spring cleanups. Summer is short and packed with painting, roofing, decks and docks.
The Midcoast and Down East
Brunswick, Bath, Boothbay Harbor, Damariscotta, Rockland, Camden and Belfast make up the Midcoast, with boatyards, summer homes, inns, restaurants and galleries. Further east, Bar Harbor and Mount Desert Island fill with visitors to Acadia. Ellsworth, Machias and Eastport are smaller towns with long drives between customers. Businesses here often serve both year-round residents and summer people, and they should say how they handle each.
